    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2001

    Retired cattle farmer
    PHILADELPHIA Graveside services for Joe Tidwell were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery with the Rev. David Manasco officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Tidwell, 69, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Center. He was a member of the U.S. Army serving in Korea.
    Survivors include a daughter, Carla Tidwell Hobson of Kosciusko; two sons, Jody Tidwell of Madison and David Tidwell of Philadelphia; and four grandchildren.
    ALBERT CLIFTON DOLLAR
    Services for Albert Clifton Dollar were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Hubert Rutherford and Ray Luke officiating. Burial was to be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Dollar, 83, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include two nieces, Brenda Luke of Meridian and Roberta Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; four nephews, Ralph and Jerry Killen of Meridian, Stanley Dollar of Brandon and Billy Harry of Los Angeles; and three cousins, Evelyn Rutherford, Rue Herrington and Lahoma Gray, all of Meridian.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Tina Dollar.
    The family requests memorials be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, 5000 Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS 39302
    Pallbearers will be Olin Johnson, Mark Luke, Billy Harry, Ralph Killen, Jerry Killen and Wayne Gray.
    WADE NORRIS
    Retired machine operator
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Wade Norris will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jim Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County.
    Mr. Norris, 85, of Noxapater, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. He was a retried machine operator for Winston County Beat 5 Supervisors.
    Survivors include his daughter, Aneda Young of Noxapater; two sisters, Mavis Ming of Pearl and Sybil Ray of Louisville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavelle Norris.
    NEVA CARNEY
    UNION Graveside services for Neva Carney will be held today at 3 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Rusty Walton officiating. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Ms. Carney, 91, of Union, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
    Survivors include three sons, Carson Carney and his wife, Gleanie, of York, Ala., Johnny Frank Carney and his wife, Ann, of Cuba, Ala., and Harvis Carney and his wife, JoAnn, of Ackerman; four daughters, Mardis Jones and her husband, Albert, of Meridian, Betty Moore and her husband, Exo, of Union, Vonnie Givens and her husband, Johnny, of Magnolia and Brenda Tessiea and her husband, Walter, of DeKalb; 32 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Carney; two daughters, Cathy Wiggins and Vivian Watson; and two sons, J.T. Carney and Sonny Carney.
    Pallbearers will be Chris Givens, Kenny Pearson, Albert Jones, Sammy Moore, B.J. Carney and Steven Moore.
    THOMAS CARAWAY
    Retired Air National Guard
    Services for Thomas "Tommie" Caraway will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Truhett officiating. Burial will be in Damascus Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mr. Caraway, 80, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May, 29, 2001, in his home. He was a charter member of State Boulevard Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Mr. Caraway was a Mason and loved his church, his family, his military service, gardening and beekeeping. He was a veteran of World War II.
    Survivors include three sisters, Jean Pickard of Meridian, Irene Martin of Quitman and Ethel Doner of Collinsville; four brothers, Jessie Caraway and Cleon "Pete" Caraway, both of Meridian, Roland Caraway of Quitman and Claude Caraway of Shreveport, La.; a special niece and nephew, Windell and Betty Johnson of Meridian; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Johnson Caraway; three brothers, William B. Caraway, Walter Milton Caraway and Maurice B. Caraway; a sister, Edna C. Smith; his parents, Ben and Betty Caraway; and his stepmother, Mary Burton Caraway.
    Pallbearers will be his nephews.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    IVA MAE THOMAS
    OCEAN SPRINGS Services for Iva Mae Thomas will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Conehatta Methodist Church in Newton. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Thomas, 89, of Ocean Springs, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Ocean Springs. She was born in Jasper County and was a resident of Ocean Springs since 1953. She was formerly employed with St. Martin High School cafeteria and also worked at Henriettas Cafe in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Windsor Park Baptist Church in Ocean Springs.
    Survivors include a daughter, Jean David of Ocean Springs; three sons, Billy Thomas of Decatur, Jerry Thomas of Escatawpa and Cecil Thomas of Union; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thomas.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
