BRIGHT, WARD
Meredith Leigh Ward and Barry Wayne Bright Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Livingston First Baptist Church. The 5 p.m. ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Gary J. McAbee.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ward of Charlotte, N.C. She is the granddaughter of Nell Coleman Ennis and the late Richard Garrett Ennis Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hanlin Ward of Livingston, Ala.
Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Shimko of Roanoke, Va., and Barry W. Bright Sr. of Herndon, Va. He is the grandson of Anna Dishman Garland and the late Floyd Dishman of Spotsylvania, Va., and Helen Bright and the late Ralph Bright of Seminole, Pa.
Wedding music was presented by organist and pianist Dr. Joseph Lammers, retired chairman of Music and Fine Arts Department at Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., and vocalists Cathleen Hood and Tricia McGahey.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk crepe. The bodice featured a contessa neckline hand embellished with bugle beads cascading to the Basque waistline. The clean European silk chiffon skirt was a Grecian drape design falling softly to the floor and finishing in a chapel-length train. The two-tiered chapel-length veil of silk illusion was secured just beneath a small tiara of bugle beads and pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of calla lilies which featured a gold filigree cross that had been worn by her mother and grandmother on their wedding day.
Bridesmaids were Shannon Ward, sister-in-law of the bride, and Daria Goode, sister of the bridegroom. Ragan Hood, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Ed Shimko served his stepson as best man. Groomsmen were Doug Crismond, Mike Goode and Jon Ward. Ring bearer was Taylor Crismond, nephew of the bridegroom. Ushers were Anthony Roth, Scott Rice, Eric Schmidt, Chris Hartung, Edward Rankin and Mike Burke.
Wedding attendants were TyAnne Smith Stone, Kristin Day, Rachel Ward, Alicia Drake, Dottie Walker, Sara Ennis McGahey, Leanna Webb, Ruth Worrell, Emmalaine Hobbs and Jean Ward. Angela Cross attended the wedding book.
A reception was held at the Livingston Civic Center following the ceremony.
After a wedding trip to San Francisco and the Napa Valley, the couple resides in Charlotte.
HARVILLE, MCLAIN
Christen Leigh McLain of Philadelphia and Elmer Lee Harville Jr., of Conehatta were united in marriage on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in a private ceremony at the home of the bride's grandparents in Meridian, with Dr. Albert McMullen officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Doug and Cheryl McLain of Philadelphia. She is the granddaughter of Dr. Albert and Janell McMullen of Meridian; Bobby and Joann McLain of Philadelphia; Patsy Sanders of Philadelphia and the late Jerry Sanders.
The bridegroom is the son of Elmer and Sarah Harville Sr. of Conehatta. He is the grandson of Mattie Foster of Atoka, Tenn., and the late Lee O. Foster and the late Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Harville Sr. of Batesville.
Following a honeymoon in Biloxi, a reception was held Feb. 18 at the home of Scott and Tina Westberry, bridegroom's sister and brother-in-law. Attending were the couple's parents, and siblings Ashley McLain of Philadelphia and Cliff and Nina Harville of Decatur. Also attending were Zachary and Michael Harville and Angel Gross.
Mrs. Harville is a pediatric registered nurse employed with Travel Nurse International. Mr. Harville is manager of Advanced Audio in Philadelphia. The couple resides in Meridian.
