    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Omicron Beta Omega chapter, will host the third annual Mardi Gras Ball tonight from 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Council of Organizations Building on 45th Avenue. Special Mardi Gras beads and masks will be given as door prizes. Entertainment will be provided by disk jockey Maurice Howard. All proceeds will go to the AKA Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available from any sorority member or by calling 681-6059.

    Friday Dedication of Ivy Theater in honor of Meridianite Emma McCain and Arts and Letters Series Season performance by the MCC vocal group, "The Variations." The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Ivy Theater. For more information, call Anne Dowdle 484-8612.

    Weems invites public to ADHD seminar
    Weems Community Mental Health Center will present a free workshop on attention deficit/hyperactive disorder Monday in the East Mississippi Electric Power Association Auditorium. The session will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The workshop is open to parents, teachers, counselors, school administrators and other interested people. For more information, call 483-4821.
    Aldersgate serves spaghetti dinner
    The resident council at Aldersgate Retirement Community will sponsor the annual Chicken Spaghetti Dinner Monday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The menu will include chicken spaghetti, Italian green beans, bread and banana pudding. Plates are $6 and you may eat in or take out. For more information, call 482-5561.
    Partnership hosts Mini Healthy Fair'
    The Partnership for a Healthy Lauderdale County will host a "Mini Healthy Fair" Monday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at College Park Shopping Center, Suite 385. There will be blood pressure and weight checks, mammogram and Pap Smear information, HIV/AIDS information, glucose screenings and anemia profiles.     Public invited to investment seminar
    Jay Jenkins of Edward Jones, a financial services firm, invites the public to attend a free seminar called, "The Four Most Common Mistakes Investors Make," Tuesday at Meridian Community College's WEBB Center.     Kennel club offers
    obedience classes
    The East Central Mississippi Kennel Club will offer Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience classes beginning Tuesday at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park. A "people orientation," no dogs allowed, will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Frank Cochran Center. For more information or to register, call 693-7194.
    Ronald McDonald to make local appearance
    Ronald McDonald will make an appearance Wednesday, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Broadmoor McDonald's location. McDonald's will be selling Beanie babies for 99 cents with proceeds going to the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America.
    EMCC to hold Campus for Christ crusade
    The East Mississippi Community College Student Christian Fellowship and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold a Campus for Christ Crusade March 1, at 7:30 p.m., in the Stennis Hall Auditorium on the Scooba Campus.
    The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Danny Lanier of Bessemer, Ala. He has been a full-time vocational evangelist since 1984 and is a staff evangelist of Northcrest Baptist Church of Meridian. Members of the public, students and all church groups are invited to attend the crusade. For more information, call Mary M. Smith at (662) 476-5089.
