Enterprise puts broom to Raleigh

Enterprise put the broom to Raleigh Tuesday night with both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs coming away with home court wins in area high school basketball action.
Enterprise girls 40, Raleigh 34: Jerra Cook scored 19 points to lead Enterprise, 4-25.
The Lady Bulldogs also got eight points from Shondra Bester.
Andrea Austin led Raleigh with 13 points. Nakethia King added 10.
Enterprise boys 65, Raleigh 61: Enterprise pulled out the win over Raleigh in a contest that was close from start to finish.
Enterprise led by one at the end of the first quarter and held a two-point lead, 35-33, at the break. Enterprise stretched the lead to four by the end of the third period and held on for the final margin.
Corey Boggan led the Bulldogs with a game-high 28 points. Burrell Gandy added 21.
Jamie Evans and Bobby Keys each scored 17 to pace Raleigh.
Lake girls 56, Forest 48: Lake improved to 23-3 with a big 12-point win over Scott County rival Forest.
Kim Cox led Class 1A Lake with 17 points. Roxanna Rogers added 15 points and Kimyatta Viverette chipped in 12 as the Lady Hornets extended their win streak to 15.
Forest, 18-9, was led by Sophia Gray with 16 points. Latrice Spivey added 13 and Patsy McKee added 10 for the Lady Bearcats.
Kemper County girls 54, Carthage 49: Four Lady Wildcats scored in double figures as Kemper County knocked off Carthage to snap a four-game losing skid and pick up their first Division 5-3A win of the season.
Megan Grace and Brooke Hudson each scored 14 points to lead the Lady Cats, 5-20 and 1-3. Monique Mosley added 13 and LaErika Ivy chipped in with 11.
Nikki Williams led Carthage, 2-22, with 13 points. Estrelita Harvey added 12 and Amanda Cooks scored 11.
Kemper County boys 67, Carthage 59: The Wildcats scored 19 points in each of the first three quarters before scoring 10 in the final stanza. and holding off a Carthage rally.
Kenny Boyd led Kemper County, 20-8, with 19 points. Chris Davis and Gary Griffin each added nine points as the Wildcats won their ninth straight game.
Dyrell Carson scored 24 points to lead Carthage, who are now 7-17 on the season.
Choctaw Central girls 87, J.Z. George 58: The Lady Warriors improved to 23-3 with the 29-point win, and they stretched their homecourt winning streak to an incredible 82 games.
Melinda Ben led Choctaw Central with 17 points. Chantay Frazier added 15, Ferne Denson scored 13 and Crystal Lewis and Trisha Phillips each added nine.
Tyronza Phillips paced J.Z. George with 15 points.
Choctaw Central boys 66, J.Z. George 63: The Warriors outscored J.Z. George 23-17 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
Julius Willis poured in 31 points to lead Choctaw Central, 9-17. Tyler Williamson added 10 for Choctaw, which hosts Williams-Sullivan Friday.
J.Z. George was led by Jerry Hemmingway with 11 points.
Noxapater boys 64, Nanih Wayia 35: J.E. Haynes scored 25 points to lead Noxapater in its 29-point victory.
Nijel Young added 16 points for Noxapater, 4-12, and Jonathan Hunter chipped in 10 for the Tigers in the cross-county win.
Darrell Holdiness scored 11 points to lead Nanih Waiya, 1-15.
Wayne County Boys 56, Heidelberg 53: The War Eagles withstood a fourth quarter charge by Heidelberg Tuesday night to improve to 21-2 on the season and get revenge for an early-season loss.
Quentin Mayfield and Dietric Slater each scored 19 points to lead Wayne County.
Derrick Turner led Heidelberg with 23 points.
The War Eagles travel to Moss Point Friday night.
Scott Central girls 60, Sebastopol 31: Scott Central jumped out to a 19-2 lead after one quarter of play and led 20-7 at halftime en route to its 29-point win.
Britney Burks led Scott Central, 20-8, with 23 points and Maquitta Anderson added 17.
Sebastopol, 2-20, was led by Ashley Johnson with nine points and Angie Pullin with eight.
Scott Central hosts Pelahatchie next Tuesday.
