OBITUARIES FOR JAN 4, 2001

MARION LEWIS SIMPSON SR.
Steel fitter
QUITMAN Services for Marion Lewis Simpson Sr. will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Pine Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Kelly and C.A. Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Church Cemetery in Enterprise. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Simpson, 47, of Enterprise, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Clarke County and resided in the Pine Hill Community. He worked at Structural Steel for the past 28 years.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Carney of Quitman; his wife, Gloria Gean Simpson of Enterprise; a daughter, Rhonda Michelle Kelly and her husband, Andy, of Stonewall; two sons, Marion "Lewis" Simpson Jr. and his wife, Sissy, and Anthony Craig Simpson and his wife, Kristen, all of Enterprise; three sisters, Claudia Robinson of Quitman, Lee Jacobs of Pascagoula and Camilla Herrington of Aurora, Ind.; three brothers, Robert Lee Simpson Jr. and Rickey Simpson, both of Stonewall, and Terry Simpson of Enterprise; five grandchildren, Sandi Kelly, Kristi Kelly, Tyler Simpson, Magon Simpson and Dawson Simpson, all of Enterprise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Simpson Sr. and a sister, Shelia Diane Simpson.
Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
JENETTA GOODIN VAN DEVENDER
Retired dietary aide
Services for Jenetta Goodin Van Devender will be held today at 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. T.D. Traylor and Clay Chancelor officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Van Devender, 95, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Meridian. She was a former resident of Winston County and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Jean Pace and her husband, William E., of Meridian, and Dorothy Fox and her husband, S.W., of Noxapater; a brother, Lossie Goodin of Louisville; three grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Pace of Meridian, Linda Jean Gibson and her husband, Dr. Gary L. Gibson II, of Flowood, and Sharon Lynn Dooley and her husband, Rusty, of Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Van Devender.
Pallbearers will be Jack White, J.L. White, George Higginbotham, Garland Cheatham, Dewey Van Devender and Cecil Goodin.

Retired from Peavey Electronics
UNION Services for Janelle C. Walters will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Buckley and Todd Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walters, 57, of Decatur, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Walters; two sons, David Walters and Roy Thomas Walters Jr., both of Decatur; two sisters, Jerri Ellis of Walnut Grove and Grace Rattcliff of Okeechobee, Fla., her mother-in-law, Ruby Walters of Decatur; and a grandchild.
The family requests memorials be made to Clarke-Venable Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Olin Thomas, Jim Embry, Lomax Cain, Danny Heflin, Donald Renfroe and Howard Beeland.
Visitation will be held today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
