Andy Murphy of Meridian has been selected for "Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges."
Murphy, a sophomore at East Central Community College was chosen for his award based on his academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success.
LIVINGSTON Robert Walthall Tucker of Butler has been awarded a Trustee Scholarship to the University of West Alabama.
Tucker, a senior at Patrician Academy, is valedictorian of his class. He earned the scholarship through academic excellence and leadership potential.
Tucker plans to major in history and English.
Five West Lauderdale students have been selected for the All-State Honor Choir and the All-State Show Choir.
The five honorees are Brandon Dewease, Nathan Cross, Nicholas Webb, Lauren Goodman, Danielle Rigdon and Diana Eggler. Dewease, cross, Webb and Goodman were selected for the All-State Honor Choir. Rigdon and Eggler were selected for the All-State Show Choir.
Show choir students were selected on four pieces of music and choreography. The honor choir students auditioned by preparing five required pieces of music in English and Latin.
The students auditioned against several hundred students from the state of Mississippi. They will rehearse and perform during the Mississippi Music Educators/American Choral Director's annual convention in February in Jackson.
Travis E. Fields of Marion is the 2000-2001 recipient of the Dan Self/Robbie Jones Pre-Law Scholarship.
Fields is a freshman at Meridian Community College in the University Transfer Program.
Brian McCary of Collinsville has been named the 2000-01 recipient of the A.C. Johnson/Civitan Club scholarship.
McCary is a sophomore at Meridian Community College majoring in elementary education.
He is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School.
Evelyn Kowall-Smith of Collinsville has been recognized as the fall semester recipient of The Radio People Scholarship.
Smith, an honors graduate of Enterprise High School, is a freshman at Meridian Community College majoring in broadcast communication technology.
She plans to pursue a career in broadcasting and landscape photography.
Andrew Webb of Stonewall has been recognized as the recipient of the $900 Bill Entrekin Family Music Scholarship at Meridian Community College.
Webb is majoring in music performance and is a member of several organizations.
Pamela Wall of Meridian has been named the Catherine Hovious Nursing Scholar for the 2000-01 school year.
Wall is a sophomore at Meridian Community College in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Wall will receive $1000 to go toward her college education.
Steve Harbour has been named the Kiwanis Club Scholar for the 2000-01 school year.
Harbour is a freshman in the University transfer program at Meridian Community College. He will receive $480 to go toward his college education
