OBITUARIES FOR TUESDAY, DEC. 19, 2000

ALLYNE BROWN
Retired factory worker
UNION Services for Allyne Brown will be held today at 2 p.m. at New Ireland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Edgar officiating. Burial will be in Erin Presbyterian Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brown, 88, of Union, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include two brothers, Coyte Vance of Richland and Royce Vance of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hester Vance; her father, Walter Vance; two brothers, Walter Lloyd Vance and James Melborn Vance.
ALICE HIGGINBOTHAM STEPHENS
PHILADELPHIA Services for Alice Higginbotham Stephens will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Damascus Freewill Baptist Church in Kemper County, with the Revs. Robert Higginbotham and Bill Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stephens, 106, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at the Kemper Community Nursing Facility in DeKalb.
Survivors include three daughters, Earlene Wiggins and Mattie Fern Stevens Pinkham, both of Collinsville, and Lena Smith of Dalewood; a son, J.K. Stephens of Bailey; 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
MIRIAM BUCHANAN
Graveside services for Miriam Buchanan will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Macedonia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Buchanan, 97, of Meridian, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Riley Nursing Center.
Survivors include two sisters, Maugarite Blackwell of Herbert, La., and Goldie Burwell of Meridian; a brother, Lloyd "Pete" Dove of Jackson, Ala.; a grandson, Wynn Buchanan of Meridian; two nieces, Margaret Griffin of Union and Jackie Massey of Meridian; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Lloyd Dove and Minnie Dove; her husband, M.W. Buchanan; two sons, Junior Buchanan and Charles Buchanan.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
SADIE CATHRINE CHISOLM WYATT
Retired from Bell South
Graveside services for Sadie Cathrine Chisolm Wyatt will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Thad Moore officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wyatt, 81, of Meridian, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at The Speciality Hospital of Meridian. She was retired from Bell South after 40 years of service.
Survivors include two sisters, Lorene C. Brickert and her husband, Bob, of Monterey Park, Calif., and Hellon C. Beeman and her husband, T.M., of Meridian; a brother, John Adolph Chisolm of Meridian; two nieces, Billie Chisolm Savoie and her husband, Clyde, of Grove, Texas, and Kathrine Chisolm of Meridian; six nephews, Basil F. Chisolm and his wife, Dana, of Clinton, Adolph Chisolm Jr. of Meridian, Thomas Lowry Beeman and his wife, Sally, of Brandon, Dannie Lee Beeman and his wife, Helen, of Springfield, Mo., James Brickert and Scott Brickert, both of Monterey Park; six great-nieces, Katie Chisolm of Clinton, Elizabeth Savoie of Grove, Loren Rhoads and her husband, Robert, of Fayetteville, Ark., Sharon Wood and her husband, John, Karon Krueger and her husband, Mat, of Brandon, and Wendy Beeman of Austin, Texas; five great-nephews, Chad and Brad Chisolm of Clinton, Dan Lee Beeman of Fayetteville, Dr. David Beeman and his wife, Missy, of Lowell, Ark., and Clay Brickert of Monterey Park; five great-great-nieces, Jessica Wood, Neely Wood, Morgan Rhoads, Elizabeth Rhoads and her namesake Sadie Kate Beeman; and three great-great-nephews, Caleb Luke Rhoads, Nick Rhoads and Taylor Rhoads.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos M. Wyatt; her parents, Daniel Lowry Chisolm and Annie Lee Pilgrim Chisolm; and a brother, William Basil Chisolm.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
CLAUDIA S. SMITH
UNION Services for Claudia S. Smith will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kentwood, La., with the Rev. Dr. Russel McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Kentwood. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Smith, 89, of Union, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Winston County Nursing Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Melvya Cassel of Union and Martha Harriet Armstrong of Kilroy, Calif.; a stepson, Floyd Lewis of New Orleans; a stepdaughter, Lucille Pledger of New Orleans; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cassie Lewis; and a son, Cassie Lewis Jr.

Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for James T. "Jim" Speed, 61, of Meridian, who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in his home.
OUVA GREEN
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Ouva Green, 87, of Meridian, who died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
