More charges are filed in 2023 firearms case

RUSSELLVILLE — A Tuscumbia man is facing more charges related to a 2023 case involving the report of several stolen firearms from a residence just inside Franklin County.

Bradley David O’Kelley, 35, was originally charged with one count of seconddegree receiving stolen property, one county or third-degree burglary, one count of seconddegree theft of property, and one count of firstdegree theft of property on Oct. 22, 2023.

Franklin County Sheriff’s investigators identified O’Kelley as a suspect after learning that some of the stolen firearms had been pawned at businesses in Franklin and Colbert counties. Franklin County authorities were able to locate the firearms and return them to their owners.

O’Kelley was ordered by the court on Dec. 19, 2023, to take part in the Franklin County Community Corrections Program regarding the four charges.

Rebecca Stephenson, an officer with the Franklin County Community Corrections, filed a request on Jan. 23, 2025, to terminate O’Kelley from the program because he failed to report for supervision, random drug screens, outpatient treatment, and contact with his case manager, according to court records.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Palmer.

After O’Kelley’s case was presented to a Franklin County grand jury, it returned six more charges related to the 2023 case, according to Franklin County District Attorney Jeff Barksdale.

O’Kelley was charged with six counts of seconddegree receiving stolen property.

O’Kelley was arrested Thursday night and booked into the Franklin County Jail, where he remains.

Barksdale said his office will file a motion to have O’Kelley’s bond from the previous arrest revoked.
