Golden Tigers have won 9 of last 10

The Russellville baseball team has won four consecutive games and nine of their last 10 contests.

The Golden Tigers defeated Scottsboro 6-0 on March 31 in a game held at the University of North Alabama. Ty Engelthaler pitched a complete game shutout recording seven strikeouts. The senior right hander allowed only two hits and issued no walks.

RHS got two hits each by Tristan Ray and Tripp Cleveland. One of Cleveland’s hits was a triple. Houston Askew added a double. RBIs were by Ray, Brayden Entrekin, Luke Greenhill and Ray.

Russellville hosted Austin High on April 3, and the Golden Tigers got a 7-2 victory.

Bryson Cooper had two hits, including a home run and a double, to lead RHS to the win. Malaki Groce added a triple, and Entrekin also had an extra-base hit. Brayden Hatton and Entrekin had two RBIs each.

Entrekin was outstanding on the mound pitching a complete game. The lefthander allowed three hits and struck out 12 batters.

The Golden Tigers (1213) kept the winning-streak alive with two wins at Arab on April 4. Russellville defeated Arab 15-1 in the first game and then topped Madison County, 9-2.

Entrekin had a big game at the plate versus Arab, hitting two home runs and collected five RBIs during a 3-for-3 performance. Caleb Hawkins added a home run and had four RBIs. Greenhill also homered.

Jackson Smith, Cleveland and Hatton had doubles. Smith went all five innings on the mound to get the win.

Madison County got both of its runs in the top of the first inning before the Golden Tigers took control of the game.

Entrekin had three hits including a home run and two doubles, and Hawkins also hit a home run and drove in three runs. Cleveland had two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Hatton pitched five innings, and Cleveland pitched two for RHS.
