Phil Campbell Fire Department presents awards
PHIL CAMPBELL — The Phil Campbell Fire Department and Rescue Squad recognized Seven members of the town’s Fire Department and Rescue Squad were recognized last week for their service, training and performance.
Pam Williams was named the Fire Department’s Most Improved Firefighter; Capt. Nick Marbutt was honored as Driver of the Year; Assistant Chief Shane Harbin was named Officer of the Year; and Lt. Jason Frederick was the Firefighter of the Year.

The Rescue Squad named Walter Evans as Driver of the Year; Kyle Roberts as the Most Improved Rescuer; and Lisa White was selected Rescuer of the Year.
Fire Chief Andy Marbutt said his awards were based on member performance, training and contributions throughout the year.

Williams earned the Most Improved Firefighter nod after completing fire training and showing growth in her role within the Fire Department.
Marbutt earned Driver of the Year accolades for his work responding to calls and operating department vehicles safely.

Harbin was chosen Officer of the Year for his work maintaining department equipment and facilities. Marbutt said Officer of the Year Harbin “goes above and beyond” in his efforts to maintain the Fire Department’s trucks and the firehouse, including work on a new office space inside the station.
Frederick earned Firefighter of the Year for his commitment to training and professional development. Marbutt described Frederick as “a real eager individual” who continues to pursue education and recently completed the emergency medical technician course.

Evans earned Rescue Squad Driver of the Year for supporting both fire and rescue operations and for careful driving on emergency calls.
Roberts earned Rescue Squad Most Improved Rescuer after recently joining both the Fire Department and Rescue Squad and beginning his fire training. Marbutt said Roberts actively works to learn department procedures and new techniques.

White was chosen Rescuer of the Year for her work assisting ambulance crews on medical calls. Marbutt said White works well with patients.
The Rescue Squad also presented Frederick with a Certificate of Accomplishment for completing the emergency medical technician course and the emergency vehicle operator certification.
The Fire Department presented Chaplain Randy Ergle with a Certificate of Appreciation for his service. Ergle also received his official chaplain lapel bars and golden cross collar brass.

Elected officers closed the ceremony and presented Marbutt with a personalized wooden plaque in appreciation of his leadership.
The Fire Department currently has 29 members, and the Rescue Squad has 38, including paramedics and drivers. Several members serve in both roles.
