PC beats Phillips in softball opener

Tinlee Parker drove in five runs on two hits to lead the Phil Campbell Bobcats past the Phillips Bears 16-0 in the season opener.

Parker hit a home run to right field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two. It was the first career win for new Bobcat head coach Darby Allison.

Phil Campbell got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Makenzie Kratz singled, scoring one run, Georgia Motes singled, scoring two runs, and Shiloh Madden doubled, scoring two runs.

The Bobcats scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kratz singled, scoring one run; Motes singled, scoring one run; and Parker homered to right field, scoring three runs.

Phil Campbell scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Addie James earned the win for the Bobcats. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine and walking three.

Phil Campbell piled up 13 hits in the game. Motes went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Phil Campbell.

Phil Campbell lost to Colbert Heights and Covenant Christian on Friday night.
