Anglers hold first outreach effort

R U S S E L L V I L L E — Franklin County Anglers delivered holiday stockings to residents at Arabella Health and Wellness as part of their first community outreach project.

The students assembled and delivered the stockings during a visit to the Russellville facility.

“Because we have so many community sponsors, we wanted to do something to give back to the community,” said Jana Boyd, a parent.

The organization is new and has not previously done a service project, Boyd said, but members hope to do more community outreach.

The stockings included blankets, socks, lotion, lip balm, word search books, candy canes, and applesauce.

“I think the kids got to see another side of the community, and I think the residents really liked having them come in and give to them,” Boyd said.

“I’m glad I had the opportunity to show my gratitude to the community,” said Eli Boyd.

Boyd said Arabella Health and Wellness is not a sponsor and was selected through a personal contact.

“My husband is the one who runs the team,” Boyd said. “So, we’d like to do more things like that, more community outreach.”
