Credit union supports women’s recovery home

RUSSELLVILLE – Listerhill Credit Union’s Russellville branch is supporting the Place of Grace’s recovery home for women with a donation to help residents rebuilding their lives after addiction.

The branch contributed $250 toward a grocery fund at the Phil Campbell Piggly Wiggly.

Wanting to do more, staff members also put together a care package with toiletries, cleaning products, laundry supplies and paper goods.

Jocelynn James Edmonds, director of the Place of Grace, visited the Russellville branch to accept the donation on behalf of the home.

“This kind of help means a lot,” Edmonds said. “We don’t rely on EBT or government assistance. Everything we do is supported by donations. And we need local people behind us — it’s about helping these women become productive citizens in our community.”

Amanda Copeland, branch manager, said the donation effort began after Edmonds reached out for help.

“IalreadyknewJocelynn personally,” Copeland said. “Once I heard what they needed, we knew we wanted to get involved.”

In addition to the donation, Listerhill will offer financial wellness sessions for the residents. Topics will include banking basics, credit, overdraft fees and how to handle tax forms.

“Helping women understand their finances is key to long-term success,” Copeland said. “We’re a nonprofit, so we always look for ways to give back to the community.”
