SPRUCE PINE — The community center and its grounds came to life Saturday with the sound of conversation, the scent of beans and cornbreadc and the gleam of polished chrome during a fundraiser for the Spruce Pine Historical Society.

The Spruce Pine Museum, located across the street from the community center, was open during the event. The museum is open during special events or by appointment. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Classic cars, trucks and bikes were on display outside as people gathered inside for lunch and fellowship. Volunteers served food and sold tickets for door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
