4 council members are duly elected

RED BAY — Four of the city’s five council members have been declared duly elected for new terms after receiving no opposition for the Aug. 26 municipal election. As a result, their names will not appear on ballot.

The city council recently approved resolutions declaring the following incumbents elected without opposition:

• Place 1 – Mike Kennedy;

• Place 3 – Jarod Massey;

• Place 4 – Jason Vinson;

• Place 5 – Brad M. Bolton.

The only contested council race is for Place 2, currently held by Herbert Trulove, who faces two challengers — Kathryn Cantrell Wilkins and Jonathon Strickland.

The race for mayor will also appear on the ballot. Incumbent Mayor Charlene Fancher faces challenger Mike Shewbart.
