Argument leads to attempted arson charge

RED BAY — A Red Bay man is facing five counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempted arson after he dumped gasoline throughout a residence on the 400 block of County Road 28 while he was arguing with his wife, according to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver.

Sheriff ’s deputies arrived on the scene after 6 p.m. June 15 to respond to a call from the wife who said her husband was threatening to burn the house down.

“The wife was trying to keep him from lighting a lighter,” Oliver said.

Deputies immediately took Dallas William Terry, 31, into custody and searched the residence.

Oliver said deputies observed areas of the house which had been soaked with gasoline.

Oliver said the wife and Terry were having an argument, while four children were outside in the yard.

“I don’t know yet what the argument was over, but I believe he may have been drinking,” Oliver said.

Terry has been booked into the Franklin County Jail. His bond amount had not yet been set as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
