Week full of highs, lows for Belgreen softball

The Belgreen Bulldogs experienced a week of highs and lows, showcasing their offensive power, dominant pitching and unwavering resilience.

The week began with a resounding 15-0 victory over Covenant Christian as the Bulldogs unleashed a barrage of 15 hits. Mackinley Hogan led the charge with a single, double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Kendra Williams added a triple and two runs, while Bryn Scott, Zoey Blaxton, Caleigh Lawson and Makinley Vandiver each contributed two hits.

Blaxton delivered a stellar performance on the mound, pitching a complete-game shutout, allowing only three hits and striking out six.

Blaxton continued her dominance in a 2-0 win over Athens Bible, pitching another completegame shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out six. Laura Seal provided the offensive spark with a RBI single.

The Bulldogs then secured a 5-1 victory over Phil Campbell. After Phil Campbell took an early lead, Belgreen responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, featuring doubles from Brooke Tompkins and Mackinley Hogan.

Blaxton allowed only two earned runs on two hits.

However, the Bulldogs then faced a challenging stretch, suffering losses to Colbert County (5-0, held hitless), Decatur Heritage (3-1, doubles by Seal and Blaxton), and Wilson (3-2, home run by Jemma Moore).

Despite these setbacks, the Bulldogs bounced back with impressive victories. They defeated Colbert County 2-1 in a thrilling comeback. After Colbert County took a 1-0 lead, Belgreen responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Jemma Moore’s double tied the game, and she later scored the winning run.

The Bulldogs capped off the week with a hardfought 7-6 victory over Lindsay Lane. Moore and Scott each hit doubles with Moore recording three hits and Hogan adding two.
