The war in the Middle East may be coming to an end as Donald Trump returns to office. Israel and Hamas have reportedly come to terms on a ceasefire agreement that will return hostages the Palestinian militants took on Oct. 7, 2023. In fact, three were released on Sunday …

Apparently, now a president can just unilaterally amend the U.S.Constitution with a tweet. Last week, Joe Biden declared the Equal Rights Amendment the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. No one who is a serious person believes he can do this, not even some of the most loyal supporters in the media and Democratic Party. What a sad way to end a presidency … Also, on the way out, Biden pardoned several people including Dr. Anthony Fauci, Liz Chaney, General Mark Milley, and members of the J6 Committee. Makes one wonder …

The Franklin County Tournament was held last week at Red Bay. The tournament rotates from school to school each year based on alphabetical order. Hosting this tournament is no small task. It lasts four nights with at least three games per night. It takes a lot of planning and volunteer help and involves long hours but brings in some good income every five years. Congrats to Red Bay on a job well done. Tharptown is up next …

Phil Campbell’s varsity girls beat Russellville on a last second layup. It was a great end to a great game between the two teams … Phil Campbell will host the baseball and softball county tournaments …

TikTok shut down Saturday night, leaving teens and many adults on edge. The app was back up and running less than 15 hours later “as a result of President Trump’s efforts,” TikTok said in a statement …

Marching toward the Super Bowl … only four remain. The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Buffalo Bills in a rematch for the AFC Championship. Washington upset Detroit and will play Philadelphia for the NFC Championship.

The U.S. government announced last week that it would ban Red Dye No. 3 in foods. This will impact many popular foods, like the heart candy that is already on the shelves for Valentine’s Day, toaster pastries, foods with red icing, strawberry flavored sodas, fruit drinks and many other foods. Some advocacy groups say the dye is a carcinogen. It is already banned in cosmetics …

President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday was moved indoors to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda because of the severe cold sweeping the nation. More on the Inauguration and the first week of the new president’s term next time … Have a great week!
