Historic Roxy Theatre celebrates 75th Anniversary with upcoming entertainment

Located in downtown Russellville, the Historic Roxy Theatre will celebrate its 75th anniversary this September – the month it first officially opened its doors to the public. The Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council is sponsoring monthly entertainment in commemoration of the milestone.

April 13 – Austin Bohannon and Joseph Baldwin

Austin Bohannon, known for his baseball Division 1 All-Star career, has music for his other passion. According to Bohannon, his love of music began in college when he first started writing songs. He followed local music star Gary Nichols and ended up taking guitar lessons from him.  When Nichols found out he was a writer, that’s when Bohannon started recording in the studio and playing several gigs with Nichols.

As Bohannon’s career continued growing, he has had the privilege of sharing the stage with industry notables including Shenandoah, Gary Nichols, Locash and Colt Ford. He has played in many venues. His latest EP, “Broadway Barbie,” can be found on all major streaming channels.  He also released a brand-new music video for “Hotter Than Sin.”

Joseph Baldwin, well-known for his musical talent, has been a working musician for more than 20 years. A Vina native, he serves as Franklin County Commissioner for District 3. Baldwin won the Alabama Tourism Department Alabama Year of Music Songwriters Contest performing his song, “I’m Alabama.” He has performed as pre-show entertainment for Ronnie McDowell and at various festivals throughout Alabama and surrounding states.

Tickets for this show are $15 and may be purchased at the door, on the Roxy Facebook and Roxy Website.

May 18 – Majestic’s Tribute to Journey

The Majestic’s Tribute to Journey will be making its debut at the Historic Roxy Theatre.  From Nashville, Majestic has performed with nationally touring musicians, and it is led by founding lead vocalist, Shane Russell. They have performed all over the country. For more information, visit Majestic’s Tribute to Journey website. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased on the Roxy’s Facebook page and website or at the door on the evening of the show.
