The Phil Campbell Bobcats made it to the Class 3A volleyball Super Regionals in Huntsville last week. The Bobcats were able to pick up a win in the first round of the North Super Regional before being eliminated in the second round.

Phil Campbell beat Brindlee Mountain in the first round of the Class 3A Super Regional 3-1.

The Bobcats fell behind early to Brindlee Mountain 15-9 in game one. The Bobcats battled back to tie the game at 18-18. Phil Campbell continued their run, wining 10 out of the last 11 points to win 25-19.

In game two, the Bobcats dug themselves in an early hole falling behind 8-2. Phil Campbell battled back to tie the game 15-15, but the Lions kept a slight lead from there, winning 25-22 to even up the match 1-1.

In game three, Phil Campbell broke an 8-8 tie to take a 14-8 lead. The Bobcats pushed the lead to 23-14 before closing out the set 25-17.

In game four, Phil Campbell once again found themselves in a big hold falling behind 9-4 and, once again, the Bobcats battled back to tie the game 9-9. Brindlee Mountain went on another roll taking a 16-11 lead. Phil Campbell wouldn’t be deterred tying the game again at 19-19. The Bobcats outscored the Lions 6-1 the rest of the way to win 25-20.

Phil Campbell lost in the second round to Westbrook Christian 3-0. The Bobcats ended up in the top 16 in the state with the lost to Westbrook.
