Football look ahead

Phil Campbell (2-5) at Colbert Heights (1-6) – After a two game stretch playing Lauderdale County and Mars Hill, Phil Campbell goes on the road to Colbert Heights. The Wildcats have struggled this year, beating only Meek, 30-28. They have lost three straight to Clements, Elkmont and Colbert County. Phil Campbell won this game last year 36-0. This is always a tough game on the road at Colbert Heights, but the Bobcats need this one to get back on track.

Red Bay (3-3) at Tanner (6-2) – After losing the first two games of the year to Lauderdale County and Mae Jemison, the Rattlers won six straight. They have beaten two quality teams in a row, Hatton and Lexington, by a combined score of 84-34. Red Bay is coming off a big win over Falkville that probably put the Tigers in the playoffs. This will be a tough test for Red Bay on the road.

Russellville (6-1) hosts Ardmore (1-6) – Ardmore will be Russellville’s next competitor.  The Golden Tigers are undefeated in region play and the games haven’t been close. Ardmore has struggled this year, winning only one game over Class 2A Elkmont. They have been outscored 56-16 in their last two region games against Fairview and West Point.

Tharptown (1-6) hosts Sheffield (2-6) – Sheffield started off the season losing five straight games. The Bulldogs have won two of their last three against. Those wins, however, came against Waterloo and Cherokee. Tharptown was off last week and had a chance to regroup and recuperate. Sheffield will be athletic and hard for the Wildcats to keep up with. The Bulldogs won this game last year 63-14.

Vina (0-6) at Meek (4-3) – The Meek Tigers have been up and down this year, but they are still a very good football team. The Tigers’ only losses have been to Hackleburg, Colbert Heights and Addison. They had a quality win last week, shutting out the much improved Shoals Christian Flame 30-0. Meek won this game last year 54-0.
