County applies for scrap tire removal grant

The Franklin County Commission voted to apply for a grant to pay for scrap tire removal in its regular meeting Sept. 20.

“If approved, the grant will be used to remove scrap tires from the right-of-way,” said Commission Chairman Barry Moore.

The council also voted in favor in of revising subdivision regulations.

“These regulations need to be adjusted periodically,” said Moore. “Our engineer and assistant engineer will look over and revise our regulations for new subdivision establishment. The Alabama County Commission Association has a template for this, and we need to get our regulations to where they are more along the lines of that.”

Commissioner Joseph Baldwin completed his legally-mandated educational requirements for Alabama county commissioners as of Aug. 26, as certified by the Alabama Local Government Training Institute.
