Red Bay Tiger girls pick up two tournament victories
Red Bay staved off a comeback to defeat Tishomingo County 3-2 Saturday.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Annaliese Rogers scored on a fielding error. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Emma McCollister scored on a passed ball.
Tishomingo County tied the game in the top of the third inning, but Red Bay answered in the bottom half of the
inning when Rogers scored on a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-2.
Rogers went 2-for-2, including a triple, and scored two runs. Lila Blackburn also hit a triple.
Chloe Knoblock pitched the complete game, striking out three batters and giving up four hits. None of the runs
were earned.
Red Bay 5, Shoals Christian 2
The Red Bay Tigers grinded out a 5-2 win over the Shoals Christian Flame Saturday. Red Bay scored two runs in the first, two in the second and one in the fourth to get the win.
Blackburn and Knoblock both singled in runs in the first inning. Blackburn knocked in Rogers, while Knoblock
scored Blackburn.
Shoals Christian added a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Taneisha Colburn scored on a fielder’s choice to give Red Bay a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning, and Madison Wicker scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
The Flame added another run in the bottom half of the inning.
Red Bay scored again in the top of the fourth inning when Wicker scored on a passed ball.
Waterloo 3, Red Bay 2
The Red Bay Tigers lost to the Waterloo Cougars on a walk-off single in the bottom of the fourth inning 3-2.
Waterloo led 1-0 at the end of one complete inning. Red Bay tied the game in the top of the second inning.
Waterloo reclaimed the lead 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning.
The Tigers tied the game again in the top of the third inning when Rogers scored on a sacrifice fly, but the
Cougars won the game on the walk-off single in the fourth.
Knoblock pitched three and two-thirds innings and struck out six batters, giving up one earned run.
