Red Bay boys get two wins
The Red Bay Tigers took advantage of fielding miscues by the Colbert Heights Wildcats to win 7-2, despite being outhit 5-2.
Red Bay took a two-run lead in the first inning on two fielder’s choice plays, scoring Alex Burroughs and Cade McKinney. The Wildcats came back to tie the game, scoring a run in the bottom of the second and third innings.
Colbert Heights’ fielding woes allowed the Tigers to score two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Chase Allen followed that up by singling in McKinney and Kolby Bragwell for the four-run fourth to give Red Bay a 6-2 lead.
Burroughs and McKinney each scored two runs.
Peyton Green got the win, pitching five innings, striking out five and giving up four hits and two runs.
Red Bay 17, Belgreen 3
Allen had a big day at the plate for the Red Bay Tigers, as they easily defeated Belgreen 17-3.
Allen drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Tigers past the Bulldogs. He drove in runs on a single in the first and a single in the fourth.
Red Bay pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning when Bragwell hit a solo homer, and Green doubled in.
Red Bay scored seven runs in the fourth inning. McKinney, Allen, Brian Parker Blair and Bragwell each drove in runs.
Alex Burroughs led the Tigers on the mound. Burroughs struck out five and allowed one hit and no runs in three and third innings.
Red Bay racked up 12 hits in the game. Landon Glover, Allen, Green and Bragwell each had multiple hits for the Tigers. Allen and Glover had three hits each. Green and Bragwell had two hits each.
Allen went three-for-three with three runs scored and four RBIs. Bragwell went two-for-two with four runs scored and two RBIs.
The Tigers stole 11 bases.
Winfield 15, Red Bay 6
The Red Bay Tigers committed seven errors in a 15-6 loss to the Winfield Pirates. Winfield scored in every inning, including taking a 9-0 lead in the through the first three innings.
Red Bay scored one in the top of the fourth inning, but Winfield answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Red Bay’s biggest inning came in the top of the fifth, when the Tigers scored five runs, but the Pirates answered with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Bragwell led Red Bay at the plate, going two-for-three with an RBI and two runs scored.
