BTCPA announces auditions for ‘The Seven Year Itch’
The Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts announces auditions for its next production, “The Seven Year Itch,” by George Axelrod, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Weatherford Centre in Red Bay.
The cast consists of adult men and women, with older teens being able to play adult parts, and one young boy. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the book, with Mark Richardson directing.
In this production, Richard Sherman roams restlessly around his empty apartment, bemoaning the fact that his wife of seven years and their son have just walked out on him. Then, without warning, a gigantic flower pot tumbles down from an overhead balcony, nearly putting him permanently out of his misery.
The jarring event has a strange effect on Richard. He now sees his marriage as wasted time and feels it necessary to exercise his libido as quickly as possible. Suddenly reborn, he invites the delectable doll who lives on the floor above down for an evening of temptation.
The night doesn’t quite go the way he thought it would, as morality and guilt sneak into his head. In his conscience – literally following him about the apartment – a soul-struggle of heroic and hilarious proportions ensues.
The play will be presented Feb. 14-17, 2019, with tickets going on sale the week before.
This play will offer dinner theatre before the play, with tickets for the play and the dinner for $25. Tickets for the dinner must be purchased in advance.
