Beast Feast returns for second year

The H.U.N.T. Outdoors Ministry, based out of Mountain View Baptist Church in Phil Campbell, is in full planning mode for the return of the group’s biggest event of the year: Beast Feast.

Beast Feast is open to all as one of H.U.N.T Ministry’s outreaches to the community, ministry leader Jason Hester explained. Last year’s Beast Feast drew nearly 400 attendees.

Food, fun, fellowship and prizes are the focus of the one-night event, with more than $5K in door prizes to be given away – from sunglasses, Yeti coolers and fishing rods to fam tables and deer stands.

Beast Feast will be held at the church Sept. 16. The doors will open at 5 p.m., and the feast will begin at 5:30 p.m.

H.U.N.T. – which stands for Harvest Unlimited Now and Tomorrow – Outdoors Ministry was Hester’s brainchild, envisioned as a way to reach people, especially people who love hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. It’s based on Matthew 9:37, “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.’”

Among the wild game being served during the Beast Feast is deer, geese, duck, wild hog, quail, fish and dove – as well as burgers, hotdogs and all the fixins, including dessert. After the meal, attendees will hear from guest speaker T.W. Norman. Norman, an active outdoorsman and a pastor at Calvary Church in Omaha, Neb., was also last year’s speaker.

“TW did such a good job, and people were so receptive of him,” Hester said. “It was humbling. We had people here who came and were saved who had never been in a church before. And that was the whole intention from the beginning – to appeal to folks who were not in church.”

Tickets to the event are free, thanks to fundraisers and sponsors.
