Belgreen bats rack up two wins

Belgreen 18, Phillips 2
The Phillips Bears scored their only two runs in the top of the first inning. From there it was all Belgreen, as the Bulldogs rolled off 18 runs, including an 11-run fourth inning, to put the game away. The Bulldogs went on to beat the Bears 18-2.
After Phillips got their two runs in the top of the first inning, Belgreen took the lead in the bottom half of the inning 3-2. Emmi Scott got the Bulldogs on the board first with a steal of home. Cortny Williams and Katie Dempsey scored on a pop fly single by Emma Dempsey.
The Bulldogs scored two more in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 5-2. Scott scored on a wild pitch, and Wilson scored on fielder’s choice.
Belgreen got two runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 7-2. Scott singled in Emma Dempsey. Williams singled in Kelsey Wilson.
Belgreen’s big inning came in the bottom of the fourth, when the Bulldogs scored 11 runs to make the score 16-2. Kelsy Wilson, Emma Dempsey, Gracie Dempsey, Kaycee Wilson, Shellie Barber and Cortny Williams all scored in the inning, with Wilson and Dempsey scoring twice.
Emmi Scott went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Kaycee Wilson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Cortny Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Emma Dempsey went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Gracie Dempsey went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Emma Dempsey got the win for the Bulldogs, pitching four innings, allowing two runs and three hits and striking out five batters.
Belgreen 12, Tharptown 9
The Belgreen Bulldogs scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull off a big come-from-behind win over their area rival Tharptown two weeks ago. Tharptown held an 8-4 lead going into the final inning of play before the Bulldogs’ scoring barrage began.
Belgreen got on the board first in the top of the second inning, scoring two runs on scores by Gracie and Emma Dempsey. Tharptown cut the Bulldogs’ lead in half, 2-1, in the bottom of the second inning, when Aly Vandiver singled in Ameliah Dawson.
Tharptown took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a two-RBI single by Taylor Cameron scoring Kaylee Bain and Klaudia Harris.
Belgreen tied the game in the top of the fourth inning when Gracie Dempsey scored on a bases-loaded walk.
The Bulldogs regained the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fifth inning when Kacee Wilson scored Kelsey Wilson.
Tharptown regained the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gracie Montgomery scored on a single by Brooke Daily, who later stole home and scored.
The Wildcats extended their lead to 8-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cara Ergle scored on a sacrifice fly, and Cameron scored on an RBI single by Olivia Ergle.
Belgreen made their big comeback in the top of the seventh inning, scoring eight runs to take a 12-8 lead. Wilson, Shellie Barber and Gracie Dempsey all scored on a three-RBI double by Cortny Williams. Belgreen tied the game on the next at-bat when Williams scored on a Katie Dempsey triple. The Bulldogs took the lead, 9-8, when Katie Dempsey scored on a Camie Terrell single. Terrell scored on an Emma Dempsey double to give Belgreen a 10-8 lead. Wilson and Emma Dempsey scored on a double by Gracie Dempsey.
Shaylee Wieting scored Tharptown’s final run.
Gracie Dempsey led Belgreen going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Cortny Williams went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Emma Dempsey went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kaycee Wilson went 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored a run. Kelsey Wilson went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Taylor Cameron led the way for Tharptown, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and scoring two runs. Brooke Daily went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and scored a run. Kaylee Bain went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
