Tigers facing losing week on diamond

After a strong week the week before, the Red Bay Tigers struggled in a rain-shortened week last week. The Tigers lost two games late – one against New Site (Miss.) 5-1 and the other to Mars Hill 6-4. The Tigers played a doubleheader with the Mars Hill Panthers Friday.
New Site (Miss.) 5, Red Bay 1
The Red Bay Tigers led New Site 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning but couldn’t hold on as New Site had a flurry of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the game 5-1.
Red Bay outhit New Site 6-5 and committed no errors in the loss. Landen Burgett took the loss for Red Bay, pitching five innings and allowing two runs, two hits, striking out six and walking one.
Blake Hester led Red Bay at the plate with two hits in three at-bats. Kaleb Burroughs, Chandler Allen, Kolby Bragwell and Skylar Brazil had one hit each. Allen’s hit was a double. Levi McNatt scored the Tigers’ lone run.
Red Bay tore up the base path with six stolen bases.
Mars Hill 6, Red Bay 4
The Red Bay Tigers lost a late lead in a 6-4 defeat to the Mars Hill Panthers Friday. The game was tied at four with Mars Hill batting in the bottom of the sixth, when a Panther singled off of Hayden Murray, driving in one run.
Red Bay took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Max Bullen drove in Kolby Bragwell. Bragwell reached base on a line drive single then advanced to second and third on wild pitches.
Mars Hill scored their first run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-1.
Red Bay pulled out to a 4-1 lead, scoring runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings. Mars Hill came on strong late, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 4-3 Red Bay. The Panthers scored three in the bottom of the sixth to get the win.
Allen, Burgett and Max Bullen each had a single and RBI in the game. Bragwell had one hit.
Mars Hill 11, Red Bay 1
The Panthers scored seven runs in the second inning and three runs in the third inning, which would be more than enough to get the win.
Red Bay got their lone run in the fourth inning, when Burgett singled in Kolby Bragwell to make the score 7-1 in favor of the Panthers.
Burgett, Bragwell, Burroughs and Bullen each had a hit in the game.
