Phil Campbell
After battling to a 1-1 tie in the first inning, the Phil Campbell Bobcats ran away from the Marion County Red Raiders to get a 5-1 win. The Bobcats picked up runs in the fourth, fifth and two runs in the sixth inning. Jacob Anthony went 2-for-2 with a run. Peyton Thomas, Gage Roberson, Joe Hardy and Blake Jones each had a hit. Thomas scored two runs. Roberson and Hardy also scored one run each. Jones had two RBIs. Jones was also the winning pitcher, striking out seven and allowing five hits.
Phil Campbell fell behind the Haleyville Lions 5-0 and could not mount a comeback, losing 6-2. The Bobcats managed only four hits by Hardy, Copeland, Jones and Taylor. Thomas and Hardy scored the Bobcats’ only two runs.
Red Bay
The Red Bay Tigers scored three runs in the seventh inning, on the way to a 13-3 landslide win over Hamilton. Red Bay scored four runs in the fourth on two errors and a two-run single by Colby Knoblock. Troy Borden racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Tigers. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the first and seventh innings. Houston McKinney picked up the win for Red Bay. McKinney allowed one earned run, seven hits and no walks while striking out three over seven innings of work.
Red Bay didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the first inning when they scored on an RBI double by Kolby Bragwell and two singles. The Red Bay Tigers pushed across one run in both the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, the Tigers scored on an RBI single by Bragwell, scoring Landen Burgett.
The Red Bay Tigers beat Sheffield on Saturday 12-5 in seven innings. The Tigers scored four runs in the first on an RBI double by Kolby Bragwell, a walk by Colby Knoblock, a hit by pitch, and a hit by pitch. Bragwell went a perfect 5-5 at the plate for the Red Bay Tigers. Troy Borden got the win for Red Bay, despite allowing five runs over six innings. Borden struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits.
The Tigers quickly matched Sheffield’s strong inning with a two-run inning of their own in the third. The Tigers scored on a two-run double by Borden. It didn’t take long for Red Bay to respond, as they scored two runs of their own in the fifth. The Tigers scored on an RBI single by Bragwell and a hit by pitch. Red Bay added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth.Kaleb Burroughs kicked things off with a single. That was followed up by Nick Thorn’s single, plating Chandler Allen and Bragwell.
