James Edward Elledge

James Edward Elledge, age 78, Russellville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 03, 2015 at Russellville Health Care.

He was born in Colbert County, on August 25, 1937 to Russell & Mary Carpenter Elledge. After returning from Ill. to his family roots in Franklin County, James was owner/operator of Elledge Texaco in Russellville until retirement. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed Alabama football and basketball. His greatest joy in recent years was watching his step-grandsons play basketball for Belgreen High School He was a member of South Side Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, who for years brought fresh flowers for his wife every Sunday, as well as a caring father, grandfather, and brother.

The visitation was 6–8p.m. Monday, Oct. 05, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be 1p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 06, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

James is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Bertha Chambers Elledge; children: Rickie Elledge, Debra Cummings; step-children: Lowell “Tooter” Landers, Teresa Alsbrooks and husband, David; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Elledge, J.B. Elledge and wife, Linda, Charles Elledge and wife, Mary; sisters, Martha Carpenter, Gail Robertson and husband, W.C., Patricia Pace and husband, Steve; and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Elledge; step-son, William “Pete” Landers; brother, R.M. Elledge, Jr., and sister, Mary Elledge Screeton.

The pallbearers will be Lowell Landers, Chase Landers, Chance Landers, Jimmy Murphree, Ben Elledge, and Duncan Ward.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Russellville Health Care for the love and care shown to our family.
