Ruth Cummings Montgomery

Ruth Cummings Montgomery, age 95, of Russellville, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Savannah Health Care in Savannah, TN, after a 2-1/2 year period of illness.

Ruth was born in Stringtown, OK on August 15, 1920.  She came to Russellville when she was two years old.  She was a life time member of Tharptown Baptist Church.  She retired from the North Alabama Hospital in Russellville.

The visitation was 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the service following at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Officiating at the service were Bro. Neal Rogers.  Burial was at Franklin Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Montgomery; mother, Lena Dutton; sister, Ruby Cummings Montgomery; and grandchild, Kath Maureen Mansell.

She is survived by her four children, Jeraldine Mansell (husband, Bill), of Decatur, Dot Vinson (husband, Billy), Bobby Montgomery (wife, Wanda), Sherrie Cummings (husband, Donnie), all of Russellville; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
