Gladys Sumerel Swindle Gilbert, 99, of Florence, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gilbert was a native of Franklin County and a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, Florence. She was a retired secretary/tax consultant.
The funeral was held on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at 5 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Mt. Home Cemetery, Belgreen. Officiating was Paul Swindle and George Barrera.The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3 p.m. until service time.
Survivors include son, Paul C. Swindle; sister, Kitty Hester; nine grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreatgrandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband James Huston Swindle; sons, Bryce Swindle, Sr. and Larry Swindle; granddaughter, Cynthia Swindle Kimbrough; grandson, Timothy Swindle; and 11 brothers and sisters.
