Gilbert W. “G.W.” “Axel” Hudson

Gilbert W. “G.W.” “Axel” Hudson, 57 passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Georgia and was a truck driver. He was a veteran of the US Marines.

Services were Sunday, July 5 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay.  Bro. Tony Darracott officiated. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Deborah “Deb” Hudson of Red Bay; two sons, Greg Hudson and wife, Trish, Belmont, and Erik Hudson and wife, Angel, Red Bay; stepdaughter, Bridget Pettey, Golden, Miss.; stepson, Jason Dees, Golden; two brothers, Bobby Hudson of Inwood, Iowa, and Allen Hudson, Munice, Ind.; one grandson, Grayson Hudson; step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Skylar Pettey, Candi Dees, Lidia Dees, Tristan Pounders and Sebastian Dees.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Hudson, Jr. and Marion Hudson, a sister, Brenda Hudson and a stepson, Richard Dees.

Pallbearers will be Josh Brown, Jacob Payne, Greg Hudson, Erik Hudson, Jason Dees and Tom Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Payne, James Horton and Skylar Pettey.

Visitation was Saturday, July 4 at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dream Riders “Biking for Children” in memory of “Axle” c/o Deborah Hudson, 1303 Country Club Lane, Red Bay, AL 35582.
