Elsie Vinson, age 92 passed away Sunday, June, 28, 2015.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville.  The service will be Thursday, July 2, 2015, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, Phil Campbell.  The body will be at the church one hour before the service.  Bro. Dennis Stewart will be officiating.  Burial will be in the adjacent cemetery.

She was born October 26, 1922 to Robert and Rushie Porter Wimberly. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Proceeding her in death was her husband of 57 years Bruce Vinson; brother, George Wimberly; sisters, Irene Vinson, Flora Martin and Deanie Miesen.

Survivors include daughter, Shirley Vinson Howard and husband Jerry; sister, Betty Hardy; step-grandchildren, Diya LeDuc and husband, Tim, Jerry Howard, Jr., Scott Howard, Mark Howard and wife, Jamie, step great-grandchildren, Brook Howard, Matthew Howard, Anna LeDuc, Emily LeDuc, Wyatt Howard, Colin Howard; numerous niece and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Howard, Jr., Mark Howard, Buddy Smith, Ricky Phifer, Andy Pounders and Jerry Vinson.

“Miss Elsie” loved gardening, and was noted for her chocolate and coconut pies which were always popular at church functions.  She was an animal lover and took in many abandoned cats and dogs through the years.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 246 Turkey Creek Road, Phil Campbell, Alabama 35581 or Colbert County Animal Control, Attn: Judie Nichols, 5010 Missouri Street, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674.
