Summer reading program kicks off with ‘superhero science’

Russellville Public Library kicked off its summer reading program Thursday with a “Superhero Science” presentation by Hannah Tucker from the McWane Science Center in Birmingham.

Tucker helped the children perform a number of experiments to replicate the superpowers of several favorite heroes, like Spiderman’s web-making and Superman’s super breath.

More than two dozen children attended the summer reading program Thursday, and registration has been extended for children who still want to sign up. All ages are welcome to participate in the summer reading program, although director Ashley Cummins said activities are probably geared toward elementary and middle school-aged children.
