Charles Edward Messer, 81, Phil Campbell, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his residence.
He lived most of his life in Franklin County and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. He served in the Army and was retired from Thompson Tractor Company, Inc. with 34 years of service.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Friday, 11 a.m. at the church with Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Survivors include children, Martha Crabtree, Margaret Haggard and husband, Larry Joiner, Wallace Messer and wife, Shirley, Mary Belvin and husband, Kenny; sister, Francis Welborn and husband, Grady; brother, Jimmy Messer and wife Linda; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Honorary bearers will be Glenn Messer and Stanley Messer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Earl Messer; parents, Frank and Myrtle Pugh Messer; son-in-law, Durwood Crabtree; daughter, Sharie Messer; brother, Royce Messer.
