Junior Ray McAlister, 71, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Mississippi to Andrew and Thelma McAlister. He was retired from Falcon Industries and Wood Sales in Belmont. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed church activities. He also enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
Services will be Wednesday, June 3, at 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, Miss., with Bro. Jimmy Dale Sartin and Bro. Kenneth White officiating. Burial will be in Snowdown Methodist Church Cemetery, Iuka, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Taylor Mitchell McAlister of Golden; two sisters, Gaila Glover of Tuscumbia, and Veda Southward and husband, Billy, of Booneville; three stepdaughters, Traci (and husband, Freddy, Toni and Kristen all of Golden; two stepsons-Darrell and David and wife, Sharonna, all of Colonial Heights, Va.; nine step grandchildren; special cousin-Linda Pruitt of Iuka; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ann Gilchrist McAlister; and four brothers, Robert, Fred, David and Thomas McAlister.
Pallbearers will be Junior Cromeans, Nolan Roberts, Jamie Williams, Joel Smart, Tony Enis, Stevie Jones and Johnny Bean.
Visitation was Tuesday, June 2, Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Miss.
