Gladys Vula Humphres, 98, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Franklin County, to Charlie and Phoebe Ann Porter.  She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Services will be Tuesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Bro. Matthew Haney officiating.  Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Faye Edwards and husband, Rex, of Vina; two sons, W.D. Humphres and wife, Faye, of Vina and H.B. Humphres and wife, Dorothy, of Red Bay; nine grandchildren, Randy Edwards and Rhonda Hester both of Vina, Regina Archie of Nettleton, Ronnie Edwards of Keller, Texas, Teresa Lesley of Russellville, Vickie DeHeart of Rockport, Texas, Phillip Humphres of Spruce Pine, Kevin Humphres of Salem, and Suzanne Summeral of Spring Hill, Tenn.; 18 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Humphres; Son, Trenton Lee Humphres; her parents and one brother, Lonnie Porter.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Hester, Keith Hester, Eugene Edwards, Ronnie Edwards, Phillip Humphres and Kevin Humphres.

Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, and she will lie-in-state at Ebenezer Baptist Church from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday.
