Russellville Softball gets hard fought win on Senior Day

by Josh Prewitt for the FCT

The Lady Golden Tigers get another strong pitching performance from senior pitcher Casey Brandenburg on Senior day as Russellville continued their winning ways.

“I was very happy for our Seniors today on getting the win.” Coach John Smith said. “Our seniors Lexi Lamon, Allie Mitchell, Casey Brandenburg, and Amber Howard have been important to us in their six years playing softball. They are great leaders and I think today was fitting for them getting a well deserved win on their big day.” Smith added.

The Golden Tigers had a game-high three hits from Lexi Lamon and two from Megan Brockway. Senior pitcher Casey Brandenburg pitched all seven innings, adding three strikeouts, 25 first pitch strikes, and a 1.57 WHIP in leading Russellville to the win.

Coach Smith said after game that getting their 28 win of the season was great.

“This has to be the best record I’ve ever seen from when I could remember,” Smith said. “Today’s game was really good for our players. We gotta keep gaining confidence, playing good offense with our hitting and defense starting with the pitching which has been really good the past few weeks.” Smith said.

“We have to practice what we preach. We need to keep hitting good which all starts with timing and execution,” Smith said.

The Russellville Golden Lady Tigers are currently riding a five-game winning streak and improved their season record to 28-16 on the year while preparing for the area tournament.
