Tharptown defeats Hatton Forcing Area Tie

 

The Tharptown Wildcats defeated Hatton 4-1 to clinch a tie for the area.  The Wildcats win forced a coin toss to decide who would host the area tournament.  Hatton won the coin toss and will host.  Shelby Palmer got the win pitching a complete game allowing only the one run and striking out four.  Kaylee Bain went 2-for-3 scoring one run.  Kaitlyn Vandiver went 2-for-3 with double and scored a run.  Haley Malone had two RBIs for the Wildcats.

 

Belgreen closing season strong

 

The Belgreen Bulldogs defeated Waterloo last week 3-0.  Laken Bragwell go the win striking out three.  Belgreen scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run by Bragwell.  Bragwell would finish 2-for-3.  Belgreen improved to 8-9 on the season and 5-1 in area.

 

Belgreen also won a pair of games over Covenant Christian.  The won the first game 12-1.  Laken Bragwell got the win giving up only one hit and striking out six.  She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with two-run home run and recorded three RBIs.  Allyson Bragwell was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.  The Bulldogs broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning.

 

The Bulldogs defeated Covenant in game two 14-2.  Krista Sikes got the win recording nine strikeouts and giving up only one hit.  Allyson Bragwell finished 3-for-4 with two singles and a double and six RBIs.  Johnna Oliver was 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and three RBIs.  The Bulldogs scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

 

Russellville gets wins in tournament action

 

Brooke Borden went 3-for-3 to help Russellville down Colbert County 9-1 in the Northwest Alabama Softball Bash.  Megan Brockway had two hits and three RBIs for the Golden Tigers.  Kalli-Beth Daniel had a double and RBI.  Jakari Suggs, Morgan George, and Lexi Lamon each had RBIs for Russellville.

 

Russellville defeated Wilson 3-2 as Casey Brandenburg scored the game-winning run in the sixth innings for the Golden Tigers.  Sydney Burcham went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Russellville. Kalli-Beth Daniel had two doubles and Brooke Borden had two hits in the win.

 

Russellville defeated Mars Hill 8-4.  Brooke Borden had a big game going 4-for-4 sparking the Golden Tigers.

 

Red Devil Classic

 

Vina defeated Winston County 8-3 in their own Red Devil Classic. Vina jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a hit and two stolen bases by Abby Hester.  Skyler Smith followed with a hit and RBI.  A rash of walks and hit batsmen by Winston County allowed Vina to put the game away in the third inning.

 

Vina lost in the finals to Shoals Christian 6-2.  Vina scored their only two runs in the third inning on a hit and stolen base by Hester who would score on sacrifice fly by Annabelle Upton.  Skyler Smith, who reached on a walk, would score on an infield hit by Hannah Baggett.
