Local company hosting blood drive

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will host its first blood drive at Russellville Hospital, April 29 from noon to 8 p.m.

“This is an important blood drive for LifeSouth and the Russellville community now that LifeSouth and our North Alabama donors are the primary supplier of blood products to the hospital,” said LifeSouth Shoals Regional Manager Mack Willoughby. “We are a community blood center, and we look forward to partnering with Russellville Hospital helping our donors care for their friends, neighbors and family members.”

“Russellville Hospital is proud to have LifeSouth as its local blood supplier for our patients.  We want to encourage our community to support this upcoming blood drive on April 29,” said Christine Stewart, CEO of Russellville Hospital.

LifeSouth has served hospitals in Alabama since 1994 and has grown to be the largest provider of blood products in the state. The first priority for all LifeSouth blood donations is the local community it serves, according to officials.

The big red, white and blue bloodmobile will be parked at the hospital, that’s located at 15155 Highway 43 in Russellville. Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental permission, weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in good health. A photo ID is also required.
