Red Bay clinches playoff spot

 

The Red Bay Tigers clinched a playoff spot with two wins over the Cherokee Indians last week.  Red Bay defeated Cherokee 4-3 and 9-3.

In game one Troy Borden struck out 12 batters to get the win over the Indians.  Borden allowed four hits and three runs in the game.

At the plate, Chase Allen went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.  Kolby Bragwell also had two hits including a double.

In game two Jade Pounds struck out nine batters to get the win and clinch a playoff spot for the Red Devils.

At the plate, Bragwell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.  Borden and Landen Burgett had two RBIs each.  Nick Thorn and Kaleb Burroughs score two runs each.

 

Phil Campbell earns spring break wins

 

The Phil Campbell Bobcats went 5-and-1 during the county schools spring break week.  The Bobcats defeated Winston County 11-1.  Nick Swinney earned the win.  Joe Hardy went 2-for-2 and scored four runs.  Blake Jones went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

The Bobcats lost to Lamar County 12-6.  Jones went 3-for-3 in the game.  Jacob Anthony went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Phil Campbell defeated Collinwood, Tenn., 10-2.  Skylar Tackett got the win for the Bobcats allowing only four hits and giving up no earned runs. Hardy scored three runs in the game.  Gage Roberson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Phil Campbell defeated Colbert Heights 4-3.  Peyton Thomas earned the win pitching a complete game and striking out nine.  Thomas gave up only one earned run.  Thomas also scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by Hayden Copeland in the seventh inning.  Thomas went 2-for-4 at the plate.  Colton Baker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Bobcats defeated Covenant Christian 13-0.  Blake Jones got the complete game shutout win allowing only one hit and striking out ten batters.  Jones also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored. Thomas went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.  Roberson had four RBIs.

Phil Campbell defeated Cherokee 13-10.  Nic Taylor got the win pitching 3 ⅓ innings in a combined effort allowing only one run.  Andrew Pennington got the save.  Thomas was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Roberson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.  Copeland went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Baker went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.  Tacket went 2-for-2 scoring three runs.
