Vina softball runs wild in weekend matchups

Abby Hester ran wild in Vina’s game at Tremont (Miss.) swiping six of Vina’s fifteen stolen bases in the contest.  Hester also scored three runs and went 4-for-5 at the plate in the 12-6 Red Devil win.

Hester had three singles, a double, and drove in three runs for Vina (2-3).

Emily Renfrow stole four bases and knocked in two runs.  Brooke Brown had three steals, two hits, and an RBI.  Annabelle Upton delivered a three-run double.

Erica Cantrell went the distance to get the win.  She allowed six runs, two earned, on eight hits and struck out seven.

Cantrell also pitched a shutout and drove in two runs as Vina defeated Covenant Christian 9-0 in a 1A, Area 15 win.

Cantrell pitched seven innings allowing three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Hester had two RBIs for Vina while going 1-for-3 at the plate and also notching a stolen base.  Brooke Brown and Renfrow each had one hit and scored two runs.
