Rita Mitchell Hargett, 57, of Belgreen, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at home.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1957, in Sheffield, to Benjamin R. and Virginia J. Mitchell. She lived her entire life in FranklinCounty and was a member of FrankfortMissionaryBaptistChurch. She was the office manager at The Red Bay News for many years in addition to being a homemaker, loving wife, and caring mother.

Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. Funeral services were held in the funeral home chapel with Brother Roger Akers and Brother Andy Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Greenhill-EzzellCemetery.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin R. Mitchell.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Randy H. Hargett, of Belgreen; son, D. Brent Hargett, and wife, Kristin, of Montgomery; daughter, Kelli P. Hargett, and fiancé, Craig Higgins, of Hoover; mother, Virginia Mitchell McCalmon, and husband, Gene, of Belgreen; and brother, Byron R. Mitchell, of Belgreen.

Pallbearers were Stewart Blackburn, Danny Hacker, Johnny Jones, Tommy Jones, Roger Jones, and Keith Ledbetter.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, Dr. James A. Posey, III, and staff at UABHospital.
