Lady Tigers pick up win against rival

by Keith Ledbetter for the FCT

Coming off a 56-48 win over Hatton Tuesday night, Red Bay’s Lady Tigers picked up their second regular season win against area rival Phil Campbell Friday night.

After a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, Red Bay ended the first half with a 30-13 advantage over the Lady Bobcats.

Red Bay held on to a 55-30 win at the end of four quarters.

“We played very well defensively,” said Lady Tiger head coach Donnie Roberts.

“We had a little trouble scoring because we just couldn’t get the ball to go in the hole.”

The Tigers’ leading scorer for the game Darby Madden scored eight of Red Bay’s 13 points in the first quarter.

Allie Kennedy added a three pointer, and Hope Cook tossed in a basket to round out the first.

The Lady Bobcats scored five points in a row to trail 17-5 midway through the second quarter.

Darby Madden led Red Bay with 23, Allie Kennedy had 16.

“There’s a lot of things we have to work on. This time of the year it’s slow, but what we really need to do is play,” added Roberts.

Red Bay will travel to Hamilton on December 11th, and to New Site, Ms. on December 12th.

Phil Campbell will travel to Sulligent on December 11th and to Addison on December 12th.
