Tharptown 51, Belgreen 50

The Belgreen Bulldogs, who led 43-41 at the end of the third quarter, were almost perfect from the free throw line hitting 20 of 23 free throws. It was Kaitlyn Vandiver of Tharptown, however, that hit the most important free throw of the night. Fouled with less than one second left on the clock, Vandiver stepped to the free throw line and calmly sank the game-winning shot for the Wildcats.

Vandiver hit five three-pointers on the way to a game-high 23 points. Others scoring for the Wildcats were Jessica Wilson (8), Savannah Hamilton (6), Kathy Alfaro (6), Haley Malone (5), and Brooke Daniel (2).

Laken Bragwell led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Allyson Bragwell added 16 points and Jasmine Martin scored ten points. Shelley Barber added five points for the Bulldogs.

 

Phil Campbell 43, Haleyville 27

The Phil Campbell Bobcats defeated the Haleyville Lions 43-27 last Tuesday night. The Bobcats held the Lions scoreless in the first quarter and allowed only six first half points. The Bobcats led 20-6 at halftime and cruised to the easy victory.

Taylor Pace led the Bobcats with 18 points. Others scoring for Phil Campbell were Bethany Harris (9), Leah Gunderman (7), Courtney Baker (4), Vickie McAlister (2), Elizabeth Benford (2), and Harley Voyles (1).

 

Mars Hill 50, Tharptown 28

Tharptown’s shooting was in shambles in a 50-28 loss to the Mars Hill Panthers. Mars Hill jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers extended their lead to 23-14 at the half. Tharptown gained ground in the third quarter outscoring Mars Hill 14-12 and pulling them game to within seven points.Tharptown’s comeback effort fell flat in the fourth quarter as Mars Hill outscored the Wildcats 15-2.

Jessica Wilson led the Wildcats with eight points. Others scoring were Savannah Hamilton (6), Brooke Daniel (6), Haley Malone (3), Kaitlyn Vandiver (3), Klaudia Harris (2), and Kathy Alfaro (2).

 

Hackleburg 54, Vina 18

Hackleburg opened up a 36-11 halftime lead over the Vina Red Devils and cruised to the win. Scoring for Vina were Emily Howard (9), Hannah Baggett (5), AnnaBelle Upton (2), Cassandra Spencer (1), and Emily Emerson (1).

 

Belgreen 53, Colbert Heights 48

The Belgreen Bulldogs held off a late surge by the Colbert Heights Wildcats to win 53-48. Belgreen led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. Colbert Heights outscored Tharptown 15-11 to cut the halftime lead to 27-24. Belgreen extended their lead to 45-36 at the end of the third quarter. Colbert Heights stormed back in the fourth quarter outscoring Belgreen 18-8 but the Bulldogs held off the rally for the win.

Allyson Bragwell and Laken Bragwell scored 16 points each to lead the Bulldogs. Shelley Barber and Jasmine Barber scored ten points each. Others scoring for Belgreen were Brianna Wood (7), Nicole Borden (7), and Brooke Williams (1).

 

Russellville 46, Tharptown 40

The Russellville Golden Tigers jumped out to a 38-24 first half lead and held off a second half comeback by the Tharptown Wildcats to win 46-40.

Tharptown outscored Russellville 16-8 in the second half.

Ashley Dunston paced the Golden Tigers with a game-high 20 points. Others scoring for Russellville were Madison Hargett (8), Abby Holcomb (6), Peyton Hester (4), Patricia Borden (4), Carley Seals (2), and Angela Woods (2).

Kaitlyn Vandiver led Tharptown with 16 points.  Savannah Hamilton added ten points.  Others scoring for the Wildcats were Jessica Wilson (9), Haley Malone (2), Kathy Alfaro (2), and Brooke Daniel (1).
