Vina cross country advances to state

The Vina girls’ cross country team finished third in 1A-2A Section 2 allowing them to advance to the state cross country meet on Saturday.

Emily Renfrow was Vina’s lead runner with a time of 20:56. She finished fifth overall and broke the Vina school record. She was also awarded All-Section.

The four other members of Vina’s cross country team and their times are as follows: Mary Morgan Clingan finished with a time of 21:52; Elizabeth Baty’s time was 22:42; Anna Belle Humphres’ time was 23:22; Emma Humphres’ time was 26:57.

“I am so proud of this team,” coach Paul Humphres said.

“It takes five to make a team and they worked real hard to get to this point. This is a great achievement for them and our school.”
