The Russellville City School system will be participating in Red Ribbon Week Oct. 27 through Oct. 31 in an effort to make students aware of the harmful consequences of drug use.

Each school will be participating in different activities throughout the week to emphasize each student’s willingness to lead a drug-free life.

The Russellville High School chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) purchased and counted ribbons for all of the Russellville City Schools to use this week. Students also wore the ribbons on Monday.

Members of SADD noted that October is also Bullying Prevention Month, and the red ribbons carry a message that states, “United We Stand Against Bullying and Drugs”.

SADD officers will make announcements throughout the week warning students about the dangers of drug use. Students will also be encouraged to sign their red ribbon as a pledge to not participate in destructive decisions.
