Claudie “Gene” DeVaney, 73, a beloved Christian, Daddy, Husband, Granddaddy, Great Granddaddy, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away Oct. 17, 2014.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1941 as one of nine children to Roy and Diotha DeVaney. He married Jane Entrekin at the age of 18 on a hot Sunday afternoon in July and he made Belgreen his home for 55 years. He was the Daddy to two girls, Donna and LeeAnn. He was a graduate and athlete at Belgreen High School Class of 1959. He passed his love of sports on to his grandkids. “Granddaddy” as most knew him was a loyal and well-loved member of the Belgreen Community. He could be found every morning at CJs for a biscuit and strawberry jam and at every ballgame with a joke to tell. He was a member of NewFriendshipBaptistChurch. He will be sorely missed by anyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Donna Barber and husband, Tony, and LeeAnn Tittle and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Whitney Sanders and husband, Jonathan, Linsey Cummings and husband, Willi, Katelin Barber, Jake Tittle, Shellie Barber, Callie Barber; great-grandchildren, Levi and Aiden Sanders; brothers and sisters, Olean Moore, Maxine Sparks, Christine Sparks, Frauline Winsted, Ureal DeVaney, Blondie Charleston, Donald DeVaney, Irene Raney; host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Belgreen Auditorium from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NewFriendshipBaptistChurch.
