William Toney McDonald passed away on Sept. 7, 2014 after an extended illness.  He was born on Dec. 2, 1942 and was the only child of the late Floyd and Myrtice McDonald of Phil Campbell.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty years, Peggy Barber McDonald. Toney and his wife were native Alabamians but moved from Russellville to Raleigh, N.C. in 1997 to live close to their children and grandchildren.

Toney is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Woody and husband, Tim; Dana Pilkington and husband George; five grandchildren, Zachary Woody and wife Breanna, Hannah and Caleb Woody, Lily and Laurel Pilkington; great- granddaughter Brooklyn Woody; sister-in-law, Beth Barber Guthrie; brother-in-law, Mike Barber; nieces, Carol Lakeman, Jane Drake and husband, T.J.; Vicki Holland; one nephew, David Barber and wife Dusty; six great-nieces, and one great- nephew.

A memorial service will be held for Toney and his wife, Peggy, at FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Haleyville, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Don Wright officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Final resting place is Corinth Heights Cemetery, Haleyville.
